Second Stop: Petroglyph Park **Only open on weekdays**

After an enlightening experience at the coffee farm, your tour continues to a petroglyph park, providing a glimpse into the fascinating world of the Taino descendants. Explore ancient caves and rocks adorned with intricate petroglyphs that narrate stories of the indigenous people who once inhabited these lands. The petroglyph park serves as a testament to the historical roots and cultural significance of the region.

The indigenous people known as the Taíno Indians inhabited Borinquen, their name for Puerto Rico, for approximately 700 to 1000 years. La Cueva del Indio in Las Piedras was unearthed during excavations conducted by developers in 1982. Upon realizing its significance, the site was promptly safeguarded and has been listed on the National Register of Historic Monuments since 2003. Continuing on, you’ll encounter a batey, or a “ceremonial area,” resembling a rectangular space defined by standing stones. Some of these rocks showcase petroglyphs depicting faces, the sun, geometric shapes, and animals.

As your exploration unfolds, the next stop on your adventure is a local restaurant, where you will have the opportunity to indulge in authentic cultural food and immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere.
